Gene Tools is a biotech company in Philomath, Oregon, USA with 15 employees. Established in 1997 when the inventor of Morpholino oligos, Dr. Jim Summerton, left his first company (now Sarepta Therapeutics), Gene Tools manufactures Morpholino antisense oligos as custom-sequence research reagents.

Morpholinos are nucleic acids analogs that bind complementary RNA and get in the way of processes. They are commonly used to alter protein expression through techniques such as blocking translation, modifying pre-mRNA splicing or interfering with miRNA maturation and activity. About half of our sales are to academic labs and half to businesses; about half are in the USA and half are international.
